Is there a limit to your healing? Can you heal yourself?

If there is still functional life in a body I can heal it — brain function, breath, a heartbeat, something like that and maybe a bit after

Can't heal a corpse from being dead but I can make them aesthetically look better

I've been able to do it since I was young and back then everything out of the ordinary was considered magic

What's the actual process you use? Is there some kind of foundation to it, like how natural phenomena follows scientific laws?

The foundation is water. I can touch a person and feel where they're hurt and then fix it, so long as I have some water on me.

Seriously? I've only known about magic for a few months but it can't be that weird to be questioning how a power like that works.

I've had this power since I was a little girl, hundreds and hundreds of years ago. They were considered gifts and they weren't questioned back then and I haven't bothered to since

You could run some tests. It's not like there's much else to do in between missions.

You'd want to create some proper hypotheses first, that'll allow you to come up with the right variables that can be tested. Since we're talking about healing they'll be biological, like amount of blood or speed of cellular division. Then once you have the variables, you just need to come up with ways to change your independent variable, measure the impact of that change on your dependent variable, and make sure the experiment can be run consistently a few times.

After all of that it wouldn't be hard to analyze the resulting data, adjust your hypotheses, and re-run any experiments as necessary.
