[Well... Jon probably isn't going to like this answer, but Accelerator isn't about to lie. His answer comes firmly and without even a hint of hesitation.]

I'm responsible for almost two million kids back home. I'll let every other damn universe out there die before I let anything happen to them.

( that... is not what he expected to hear? and it's enough to get those glowing red eyes of his to fade back to blue from the sheer DISBELIEF at what accelerator just said. he floats there. dumbfounded. staring to the boy from where he is in the air and can't help but ask. )

You would... even let my universe die?

[That glow fading doesn't feel enough for him to let his guard down, so Accelerator doesn't reach for his choker.]

Yeah, I would.

[As much as he'd like to say otherwise, he can't. He isn't that Level 0, he isn't the kind of person who will kill himself trying to save everyone. The list of people he's willing to protect has grown exponentially, sure, but at the end of the day his priorities lie with the clones and the espers from Academy City. So it is what it is.

(This is why he wishes Kamijou Touma was here. Can he fill that idiot's shoes? He doubts it.)]

( but they're friends... or something like that, aren't they? shouldn't they want to work together to help everyone? it just... doesn't make sense to him...

[Honestly, he's sure he deserves a punch to the face for saying that. But this kid has already shown how strong he is, and Accelerator doesn't want Jon to get hit by his reflection, so when that fist swings his way he moves.

He's cheating a bit, using the incredibly subtle shift in the air surrounding them to be able to tell what's about to happen so he has enough time to react. Shifting his weight, he moves one foot to sidestep the punch, making sure Jon's fist is just outside the range of his reflection.]

he needs to stop. pull back. he doesn't want to hurt accelerator and he knows he's capable of hurting so many people around him, but... why would he say something like that? not that he wanted him to lie but... it's hurtful and they should be working together not against one another.

ironic when he's catching himself super quick and throwing another punch towards accelerator. )

[Accelerator steps out of the way of that second punch, too, deliberately in a direction that takes them away from the chicken coop. Is this the right thing to do? Maybe he should take a hit for being a jerk, but rewarding Jon for acting out doesn't seem right, either. And he damn well doesn't have the time to mull it over, so he figures he just has to go with his gut.]

This is a temper tantrum if I've ever seen one. [His tone is a bit dry as he says that.]

( there's only maybe another swing to come when he forcefully throws himself back and hits the air with a resounding albeit invisible thud. he floats there — blue eyes filled with so many things he can barely articulate right now but the most prominent one shining through being disappointment. for all his upset, for all his anger and frustration, he can't believe accelerator would sacrifice his universe to save his own. it hurts. especially when he thinks of visiting him in the library and checking up on him after missions. maybe he really is stupid.

he doesn't let anymore tears fall. instead, he just stares to him in that heat that slowly begins to pull itself back into him and balled fists slowly unfurl as his cape blows behind him. )

I'd help you save your universe and all those kids and not just because I thought we were becoming friends.

( but because it's the right thing to do.

he pushes himself up high into the air at that, watching as the boy and the farm begin to grow smaller and smaller before he can fly away. )

[The entire time he makes absolutely no attempt at countering, or even trying to touch Jon. That would be a stupid and unnecessary move, so he sticks to dodging, and even when Jon stops he stays cautious. He doesn't want to see either of them coming out of this with physical injuries, even if it's by accident, though when he sees the look Jon gives him there's an almost imperceptible shift to his stance.

He isn't Kamijou Touma, the kind of person that will do whatever he can to save everyone, even people who don't deserve it. That's the kind of person Jon needs right now, not some piece of shit murderer. Since Day 1 Accelerator has been wondering why he was brought here and not Kamijou, and right now that thought is prominent in his mind.

He doesn't try to stop Jon at all. The kid seems a little calmer, so it's probably for the best to give him some space. He isn't any good when it comes to emotional vulnerability, and he doesn't want to make things worse.]
